NTU / Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKC SOM)’s Dr. Yen Choo, Professor of Regenerative Medicine, aims to develop novel treatments to tackle osteoarthritis. In this project that is supported by S1.2 million gift from StemiGen Therapeutics, NTU will develop novel biomaterials as scaffolds for delivery of MSCs to damaged knees. StemiGen will supply high quality MSCs to NTU for this study.
We collaborate with KK Women’s and Children Hospital to establish a clinical framework to ethically and safely access umbilical cords for isolation and extraction of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Using StemiGen’s proprietary methodology for isolation, expansion and cryostorage of MSCs, we are well positioned to supply high quality MSCs (full traceability of source) for current and future clinical trials.
We established a research collaboration with Singapore General Hospital (SGH) in a clinical trial to treat knee osteoarthritis with mesenchymal system cells (MSCs). Patients whose knees are damaged by inflammation caused by wear and tear normally need total knee replacement surgery to reduce pain and restore knee functions. In this clinical trial, Orthopaedic surgeons at SGH will provide a non-surgical method of reducing inflammation and repairing patient’s knee using expanded MSCs manufactured at StemiGen Therapeutics.
